3 seriously injured in shooting outside NYCHA complex in East Harlem

EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- Three people were seriously wounded when they were shot outside a New York City Housing Authority complex in Manhattan Monday night.

Police say at least seven shots were fired just after 8 p.m. at the Thomas Jefferson Houses at 112th Street and Third Avenue in East Harlem.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the back and leg, a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg, and a 17-year-old male was shot in the back.

The victims were taken to area hospitals in serious but stable condition. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The circumstances that led to the shooting are not yet known.



Sources tell Eyewitness News the shooting is gang-related.

Police are searching for suspects. So far there have been no arrests.
