LOS ANGELES, California (WABC) -- R&B singer Brandy was transported to a hospital Friday morning after airline officials reported an ill passenger on a plane at Los Angeles International Airport, authorities said.

Officers and firefighter-paramedics responded about 7 a.m. to a report of a person who was "unconscious or almost unconscious" shortly after boarding a Delta Airlines plane, according to Los Angeles World Airports police.

The aircraft had not yet departed the gate when Delta employees called authorities. It was bound for John F. Kennedy International Aiport in New York City.

The singer was fully conscious by the time she was escorted onto the jetway, police said. She was then taken to the hospital.

Publicist Courtney Barnes said in a statement to The Associated Press that Brandy's rigorous schedule, including concert dates and recording new music, took their toll on the singer.

The statement said that in recent days, the pop star has taken more than 10 long-haul flights and that the Grammy winner was recording music late Thursday night before arriving at LAX for a 5:45 a.m. flight.

The statement says: "The stress of all of the traveling and working so incessantly has exhausted her. She will be relaxing for the next few days."
