It started in the eastbound lanes before 6 a.m. near Exit 11/Jewel Avenue.

A crash involving up to four vehicles led to a vehicle hitting the divider and sending debris into the oncoming westbound lanes, causing a separate crash.
One piece of debris appeared to have penetrated the windshield of an oncoming vehicle.
In all, at least seven vehicles were involved in the crashes on both sides of the parkway.
A total of four people were hurt.
None of those injuries are believed to be serious.

All lanes of the parkway were shut down between Kew Gardens and the Long Island Expressway as first responders tended to the injured and crews worked to clear the debris.
