Police officer's body cam captures dramatic fire rescue in New Jersey

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, New Jersey (WABC) -- There is a twist to a local officer's race to put out a fire inside a house in New Jersey.

Last week, police in Hopewell Township began wearing body cameras on patrol.

Just hours after an officer clipped the equipment to his chest for the first time, it recorded him charging into a house to snuff out a fire.

The officer already had cameras in his patrol car, but the police department had just purchased these new body cameras, and he was the first officer to be wearing one when an emergency call came in last Saturday.
