ISRAEL (WABC) -- Eyewitness News Reporter Josh Einiger is reporting from Israel on the war with Hamas.

Einiger landed at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv on Wednesday and will be reporting from Israel throughout the coming days.

On Monday morning, he showed an inside look at Galilee Medical Center in northern Israel. They have completely moved all of their hospital operations underground.

Friday, he showed the devastation of the Nir Oz kibbutz. A burned-out home, riddled with bullet holes, once housed a family of five. The mother, father, twin 5-year-olds and a 2 1/2-year-old all died in the attack.

A survivor of the attack on the Kibbutz shared with Einiger how he hid for 8.5 hours and kept the attackers out while with his family and dog.

Einiger also followed Governor Kathy Hochul's visit to the region last Thursday.

After learning tragic news that her father died suddenly overnight, she continued her solidarity trip and met with some family members of Americans being held hostage by Hamas.

Itay Chen, 19, an American-Israeli dual citizen is believed to be among them. He is a soldier with the Israel Defense Forces and was believed to have been taken hostage right when the attack by Hamas began, as he was guarding a post.

Itay's father Ruby is from Flatbush, Brooklyn. He says he is holding out hope for his son and hoping their happy memories will get him through this tough time.

Hochul also met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday.
