EATON'S NECK, Long Island (WABC) -- Authorities are searching for a man in a kayak who disappeared off Long Island Sunday afternoon.

Coast Guard and local agencies are looking for 24-year-old Selvin Vasquez-Enamorado of Huntington Station, who vanished near Crab Meadow Beach in Eatons Neck.

Police say Vasquez-Enamorado launched his kayak from a beach to go fishing sometime between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

When he did not return home, a friend called 911 at approximately 6 p.m.

Around 5:45 p.m., the Coast Guard was notified by the Huntington Harbor Master about Vasquez-Enamorado and launched a search.

The kayak was recovered.

Anyone with information on the disappearance is asked to call 203-468-4401.

Before heading out on the water, the Coast Guard urges all boaters to alert someone of their trip and be familiar with the area where they are boating.
