UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- It is the end of an era for cinema lovers in Manhattan.

On Sunday night, Lincoln Plaza Cinemas on the Upper West Side screened its last films.

The six-screen family-owned theater opened back in 1981 and was a destination for fans of independent and foreign movies.

The landlord reportedly plans to renovate the space and replace it with a new theater complex.
