Elizabeth General Hospital has been abandoned for more than a decade, and it had deteriorated over the years to the point of being an eyesore. Neighbors were happy it was going, and then the work started.
"It's a lot of dust - it's white," says resident Anna Gonzales.
The dust creates a white smoke that drifts out into the neighborhood. Many think that the dust is affecting people's health - especially children.
Raquel White has tried to contact the City of Elizabeth but no one has gotten back to her. City Councilman Frank Mazza says the work is closely monitored.
