HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, New Jersey -- Authorities have recovered the body of a 17-year-old who was swept away by storm-tossed currents in a New Jersey lake.

Officials on Thursday made the discovery one day after the boy disappeared while swimming with three other teens at Rowan Lake in Hamilton Township. They were celebrating the first day of summer when storms swept through the area.

Fifteen-year-old Jarod Tatarek says the current pulled his friend from his grasp and he submerged. He said his friend kept gasping for air as he surfaced before he disappeared.

Authorities have not released the boy's name.
