Father, son killed, 2 children injured after car crashes into brick wall in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, New York (WABC) -- A father and son were killed and the man's two other children critically injured during a car accident in New Rochelle Sunday.

Police say the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on Pelhamdale Avenue at the intersection of the Hutchinson River Parkway Northbound exit ramp.

Authorities say the gray Nissan Altima crashed head on into a brick retaining wall off the exit ramp of the parkway.

The driver, 37-year-old Troy Carter, of Hempstead, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The front seat passenger, 11-year-old Tiara, was critically injured but is recovering in the hospital.

Twin brothers, 7-year-olds Carmello and Romello, were found in the back seat.

They were rushed with severe injuries to Jacobi Hospital, where Carmello later died.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
