It happened on E. Fordham Road and Morris Ave. in Fordham Heights just before 9 p.m. Saturday.
The two victims, a 44-year-old and a 53-year-old, were crossing E. Fordham Road when a dark-colored sedan struck them.
The 44-year-old woman, identified as Bronx resident Murielle Gousse, was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital. The 53-year-old is currently in stable condition.
A preliminary investigation determined that an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on E. Fordham Road when the driver failed to navigate the roadway and hit the 44-year-old.
The car then collided with metal items on the sidewalk, which struck the 53-year-old woman.
The vehicle fled the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
