According to witnesses, a black sedan fled the scene.

Elizabeth resident Darren Small says the area, Salem Avenue in particular, has become a hotbed for crime, specifically drug activity.

"Very quiet working-class area. Crime came in last few years and there's nothing being done about it," Small said.

The shooting is under investigation.
