1 person stabbed during fight inside subway in Manhattan; police searching for suspect

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A man was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight inside a subway station in Manhattan Thursday.

Police say the 62-year-old victim and the suspect got into a verbal dispute on a southbound 2 train on the Upper West Side, which turned physical and spilled onto the platform.

They say the victim was stabbed in the torso.

The suspect fled, and the victim gave chase before losing sight of him.

He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in stable condition.

Police are searching for a man who fled the scene near Broadway and the 72nd Street subway station.

Further details of the incident were not immediately available, including what led up to the assault.
