Over 150 heads of state were scheduled to attend, among them President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has been the target of months of protests over changes to the Israeli judiciary.
Meanwhile, protests have been underway as world leaders were expected to use the General Assembly to address the growing threat of climate change.

The NYPD says there are no specific or credible threats to the General Assembly, but on Thursday, they talked about all the precautions that are being put in place.

The average speed on the east side is expected to be about 4 mph. Officials are urging New Yorkers to take mass transit and more specifically, the subway, because more street closures above ground can happen at any given moment.
