The building's super said he heard the son's sister-in-law scream when she found them lying on a bed. He said the father and son are members of a hard-working and kind Dominican family.
The son, identified as Alexis Martinez, was supposed to be playing baseball Wednesday afternoon with a team of mostly cops, and when he didn't show up, they went to check on him.

Neighbors said the officer was working toward his detective shield and worked for the Bronx narcotics division. His father, according to neighbors, was a retired cab driver.
Relatives say the father struggled with mental health issues.

There is no word yet on a motive as detectives continue going through the scene.
