The bodies of the two passengers were located nearby.
Westchester County Police say the aircraft, a single-engine Beechcraft A36, was located late Thursday night in an area surrounded by trees following a local search-and-rescue operation.

The plane lost contact with air traffic controllers after departing from John F. Kennedy International Airport around 5 p.m. It was headed to Cuyahoga County Airport in Richmond Heights, Ohio.
The FAA said the pilot reported engine issues around 5:25 p.m. about one mile from Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York. Five minutes later, police said the airport lost contact with the plane.
It was believed that at least two people were on board the six-passenger aircraft.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash.
