Kacy Claassen was taken into custody at the Westchester Square Academy on April 27 after police responded to the location for possible identity theft.
According to the criminal complaint, Claassen enrolled at Westchester Square Academy on April 13 under a fake name and with a fake date of birth of 3-8-2010.
Claassen, who pretended to be 16 but is really 28, lied to the principal and told him that she's from Ohio, the complaint said.
That's when he confronted Claassen with her own Facebook page, showing that she's 28 years old.
Officials say Claassen admitted to her real identity and age, stating that her friend made her lie so that she could receive more public assistance.
She has since been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and criminal impersonation, among other charges.
Claassen was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on June 15.
A spokesperson with NYC Schools released the following statement:
"Enrollment fraud is a serious crime that fundamentally undermines New York City Public School values. The NYPD is actively investigating these allegations and will pursue all appropriate legal action against those responsible. We are providing all necessary and suitable support to the school community."
