It happened Thursday morning around 6:30 a.m.
Investigators said a Corvette was speeding east on Sherman Avenue when it collided with a Mercedes-Benz at West 204th Street.
The Corvette then struck a 34-year-old pedestrian before coming to rest alongside a building.
Police said the Mercedes-Benz then struck a parked, unoccupied moped. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz got out of the vehicle and fled. That person is being sought.
The pedestrian was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.
The driver and a passenger in the Corvette were also taken to Harlem Hospital where they were said to be stable.
The driver, 27-year-old Eric Torres, is charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Authorities say they are now investigating whether one or both vehicles were drag racing before the crash, but neighbors are frustrated and outraged.
"They come in different cars so this is a thing now," said Frank Hernandez. "Basically donuts, I saw one just the other day a BMW hit parked cars and he ended up over here and I wonder if those are the same guys, it's pretty common over here."
The driver of the Mercedes is still being sought.
