But yoga can look and sound a little intimidating.
With September being National Yoga Month, we set out to demystify the practice with seven tips for getting started with yoga.
First, ask friends to recommend studios or yoga styles, and second, date around to find the right yoga match.
"You may go to your first yoga class and hate it, and it may be totally not the right style and the right teacher, it wasn't the right vibe for you. And the next class you may have a 180 degree turnaround," said Bethany Lyons of Lyon's Den.
At her studio, the style is Batiste, an energetic flow in a heated room. But no matter what style you choose, tip 3 is to own that you're a beginner.
"There's nothing more freeing than to say, hey I'm brand new, I've never done this, tell me where the locker room is, what do I need, how to set up my mat. And then actually talk to the teacher and let them know," said Bethany.
Tip 4: Breathe. "Take a breath in and exhale out," Bethany said. "It helps to calm the body and quiet the mind,'
The 5th tip: Be kind to your body.
"There's a reason why we have yoga blocks. It's not one size fits all, and the block is going to bring the floor to you," she said.
Bethany's 6th tip: When you find a class you like, commit.
"You have to commit to two times a week to really see anything going, and really three or four, five times a week we'd love to see. It's great to have a day off," said Bethany.
And Bethany's final tip is to be flexible, and she's not talking about in your body.
"You need to be flexible in your head space, and to be willing to come undone a little bit."
