American Airlines Flight 386 landed safely around 2 p.m.
Passengers were able to get off the Boeing 737-800 using stairs, the FAA said, and were bused to the terminal.
Several fire trucks and police cars could be seen surrounding the American Airlines plane.
The airline said there were no injuries.
American says the plane has been taken out of service for inspections.
"American Airlines flight 386 experienced a tire issue after landing safely at Chicago (ORD). Per procedure, first responders met the aircraft out of an abundance of caution and customers were transported safely to the terminal by bus," American Airlines said in a statement.
The FAA will investigate.
