YAPHANK, New York (WABC) -- Four people were arrested and a truck and race car were impounded after a street takeover in Yaphank over the weekend, according to Suffolk County police.

Police released video showing dozens of people taking part in what authorities described as illegal street racing in Yaphank.

In video provided by Suffolk County police, a large group of people can be seen gathered around two cars that appear to be preparing to drag race. The two vehicles rev their engines, burn out their tires and speed away.

Police said officers were called just after 1 a.m. Sunday to Express Drive North in Yaphank. Authorities said members of the Street Takeover Task Force observed cars racing before the vehicles dispersed.

Officers later pulled over a truck towing a trailer carrying a race car and arrested four people from Connecticut.

The four people arrested were issued field appearance tickets and will be arraigned at a later date, police said.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and that additional arrests and vehicle impoundments are possible.
