ELMONT, N.Y. -- Police said they've zeroed in on suspects who have been taking tires and rims from new cars parked at New York's Belmont Park race track for months.

The Nassau County Police Department said three teenagers were arrested in a Belmont parking lot Friday after a New York Racing Association peace officer spotted them.

Authorities determined the teens had been damaging and taking tires and rims there since July. The incidents involved at least nine vehicles, including a Ford Explorer, a Honda Accord and two Subaru Crosstreks.

The suspects were arrested on grand larceny and other charges.

The 109-year-old race track in Elmont is home to the Belmont Stakes, the final event of thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown.
