Husband charged with murder after woman found dead in Bay Ridge apartment: sources

BAY RIDGE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A man was arrested and charged for allegedly murdering his 59-year-old wife, whose body was found inside her Bay Ridge, Brooklyn apartment on Monday morning, according to sources.

Police charged 47-year-old Mauricio Granda with murder in the death of Maria Ines Granda on Tuesday.

They say her body was found inside her first-floor apartment located at Rose Court at 314 79th St. in Bay Ridge.

Authorities said the woman was found unconscious with head trauma. At the time of the discovery, police sources told Eyewitness News the woman's death appeared suspicious.

Sources say Mauricio Granda and the victim were married.
