PISCATAWAY, New Jersey (WABC) -- New Jersey prosecutors have released bodycam video of a deadly shooting involving police in Piscataway.

Police say 29-year-old Jordan Barnes killed his mother and grandparents before the responding officers killed him.

The recordings released Wednesday are difficult to hear and watch. The video and the calls capture the chaos and fear inside the Piscataway home, moments before the deadly police encounter.

The video shows police open the door of the home on River Road just after 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 5.

The suspect's own father called 911 and when officers arrived, they say Barnes confronted them with a knife.

The bodycam video shows officers attempting to de-escalate the situation. Police say Barnes refused commands and advanced toward officers with the knife.

When he refused to drop his weapon, police tased him, but it had no effect. That is when they shot him.

Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers found three family members inside the home -- Barnes' mother and grandparents - all stabbed to death.

Police say there had been no previous incidents at that home before the shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation and, as is protocol, will be presented to a grand jury to determine whether anyone should face criminal charges.
