At least 11 injured, 2 critically in out-of-control Bronx apartment fire

NORWOOD, Bronx (WABC) -- FDNY crews are battling a large fire at an apartment building in the Norwood section of the Bronx that has injured at least 11 people.

Two civilians are listed in critical condition and three firefighters are among the others injured.

The fire was reported on the third floor of a building at 374 East 209th St. shortly after noon. It reached 5 alarms just before 2 p.m.



There is no word on what sparked the fire, but the initial call came in as a lithium-ion battery explosion, though authorities have not confirmed that.
