The bodies of two men and two women were discovered inside the Castle Hill Houses on Lacombe Avenue around 9:45 a.m.
The victims were discovered in a fifth-floor apartment after a wellness check.
Police say a 44-year-old man is suspected of shooting his 75-year-old mother, his 26-year-old daughter and his daughter's boyfriend, also believed to be in his 20s.
All of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds. Police think the suspect shot and killed himself.
A gun was recovered at the scene.
Tiffany Evans says the 75-year-old victim is her daughter's grandmother.
"I'm devastated," Evans said. "She was a very loving person. Loving."
The elderly woman was affectionately nicknamed "golden girl."
No one could speak to any history of violence in the home but one neighbor said the suspect told another resident something cryptic Wednesday morning after failed attempts at meeting up.
"The son went upstairs to visit someone on the 11th floor to try to hang out with someone, and tried again today and he said, 'sorry we couldn't hang out, see you in the next life,'" said resident Lulu Anderson.
Officials said the suspect called his 20-year-old son in North Carolina around 8:10 a.m. and left a voicemail that said, "Check on your family."
Police have yet to officially identify the victims.
The medical examiner will determine the victims' causes of death.
While police try to piece together what lead up to the violence, residents are praying for the family.
