Here's how much real Christmas trees cost around New York City

Monday, December 1, 2025
NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- It's the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most expensive.

With many looking for budget-friendly ways to celebrate the holidays, our ongoing series Your Money, Your Savings, highlights ways to save on a Christmas tree.

This year, there will be plenty of inventory.

According to the Real Christmas Tree Board, 84 percent of growers say they anticipate no increase in wholesale prices.

"The more trees we have in the market that typically means better opportunities for a reasonable price or for a lower price," Marsha Gray, with the Real Christmas Tree Board, said.

A good chunk of trees in the area are imported from the North and are exempt from tariffs.

"You've been supplied by Canada for a really long time, they are great trading partners, those are farmers we know and we're work with directly," Gray said.

At SoHo Trees, a 7-foot Fraser Fir goes for about $200 with a stand.

In Tribeca, a similar tree between 6 and 7 feet was about $245.

In Fort Greene, the price of the same 7-foot Fraser ranges between $169 and $258 because there are premiums, regulars and ones damaged in transit.

Back in Manhattan at Whole Foods, trees are between 7 feet and 8.5 feet tall, and $90 plus tax.

"We are competing with all the sidewalk vendors that are not local and have no rent to pay," Sara Gatanas with Urban Garden Center said.

The Urban Garden Center was $175 for the same Fraser.
