Clown accused of threatening teen on subway surrenders, says it was 'misunderstanding'

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A man who was dressed as a clown and was accused of threatening a teenager on the subway has surrendered to police. However, the man says it was all a 'misunderstanding.'

The man turned himself into police after surveillance video was released Thursday. Watch the video here:

He is a professional clown, who is charged with misdemeanor criminal menacing.

Police said he blocked a 16-year-old boy from exiting the train last week, eventually letting him go. Then as the boy ran away, he then allegedly pulled out a knife and chased the boy as he exited an uptown 6 train at East 96th Street on the Upper East Side.
