The temperature never climbed above freezing Tuesday, with wind chills below 0 at times. But thankfully, temperatures are expected to moderate on Wednesday and climb back into the 40s.

Meteorologist Bill Evans says temperatures dropped to about 14 degrees overnight, and it stayed mostly in the teens and low 20s for most of the day.

A strong area of high pressure will settle over the New York region into Wednesday, before gradually shifting to the north and east later and through Thursday.

Low pressure is then forecast to track across the Great Lakes Region Friday night and Saturday, with another low moving off the Mid-Atlantic Coast during Saturday.
Another low pressure system is forecast to develop in the southeastern states Sunday, then track northeastward to coastal New England by Monday with a strong cold front moving through our area.
