The men forced the woman to the ground by holding a knife to her throat at Surf Avenue and West 16 Street around 9 p.m.
The victim was with her boyfriend, who walked away from her to get coffee. When he returned, he found her being attacked.
One man raped the woman and the second fought off her 34-year-old boyfriend who attempted to intervene.
The 46-year-old woman was treated at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health.
David Davon-Bonilla, 24, is from Nicaragua. He is charged with rape, assault, sexual abuse, menacing and criminal possession of weapon.
He was arrested last year in another sexual assault at a Brooklyn migrant shelter.
Leovando Moreno, 37, is from Mexico and was charged with assault and criminal possession of weapon. He is undergoing a psychological evaluation at the hospital.
Mugshots of both suspects were provided by law enforcement.
The 34-year-old man who tried to help was not hurt.
It's not yet clear where exactly the crime happened, but the intersection includes an empty lot and constructions sites as well as a path that goes under the boardwalk.
"It's very peaceful, It's very crowded about that time of the evening and for something like that to take place is just unheard of," said resident Christopher Ransdell.
Police say the suspects have been staying at a shelter. Davon-Bonilla was not out on bail, he actually pled guilty in the case last year. He could have been deported after that and right now it's not clear why he was allowed to stay in the country.
