The deadly incident happened around 10:30 p.m. inside the Ebbets Field Apartments on Bedford Avenue in Crown Heights.
Upon arrival, responding officers found a 74-year-old woman stabbed in the head and arms. A 72-year-old woman also suffered stab wounds to her back and arm. The 72-year-old victim rushed to get help as blood came from her back and arm.
"Clearly they don't have a heart for the elderly people in the house. how do you live there and you are doing all this?" said Anissa Christian.
Christian was with her aunt inside an apartment directly across from the crime scene. They say before the double stabbing, a man and two women were in a heated argument in the hallway.
"The walls were shaking, because the guy they locked him out, so he was pounding really hard and saying 'let me in, let me in,' so he was kicking the door and pushing the door," added Diana Harris.
They say the man then left and they heard police in the hallway talking on the phone with a woman in the apartment.
"The police were asking her to open the door, come to the door or pass the door so we can go in. She didn't want to, so police had to break down the door and go in," added Christian.
Once inside the apartment, police found the 74-year-old and said the situation was dire.
"She's going into cardiac arrest, we have to bring her out so we can give her CPR better," Christian said.
The victim's brother was trying to find out what happened. Neighbors say there were several people who lived in that apartment.
First responders transported both victims to Kings County Hospital, where the 74-year-old woman was later pronounced dead. Her identity is being withheld at this time pending family notification. The 72-year-old victim is currently in stable condition.
