Chunks of a building's facade crashed down on Broadway between Reade and Duane streets around 6:12 a.m.
It fell from the building's 16th floor.
The FDNY closed off Reade Street between Broadway and Church Avenue as a precaution from further debris.
The Department of Buildings and NYPD also responded to the scene.
No one was injured but there did appear to be damage to at least one vehicle parked on the street below.
The operation to secure the building is ongoing.
