Incumbent Dan Goldman is running for a third term. He is being challenged by former NYC Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander.
Lander is being supported by Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the progressive movement.
Goldman has the backing of Governor Kathy Hochul and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
During a taping on "Up Close," Bill Ritter and Liz Cho asked Goldman if it was a mistake not to support Mamdani in the race for mayor.
"I have moved on, that was last November, it was quite some time ago and as soon as he won the general election, I reached out, I congratulated him and I began to try to work with him on our shared goals of making New York more affordable," Goldman said.
Goldman and Lander share many of the same views on the major issues. So why did Lander decide to challenge Goldman?
"NY-10 voted overwhelmingly for Mayor Mamdani. I'm proud to be supported by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. This is a district that believes we should have universal health care and Medicare for all, that we need to invest more in affordable housing," Lander said.
