Woman, 5-year-old child struck by vehicle in Fair Lawn; driver flees scene

FAIR LAWN, New Jersey (WABC) -- A 47-year-old woman and a 5-year-old child were struck by a vehicle that fled the scene Tuesday morning at an intersection in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.

Bergen County authorities say it happened at Broadway and Fair Lawn Parkway around 6:34 a.m.

Police say the pedestrians were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center "with varying degrees of injuries" and are in stable condition.

The relationship between the woman and child was not immediately clear. A description of the vehicle that struck them has not yet been provided.

The investigation is being overseen by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Fair Lawn Police Department.
