Seaplane damaged by wave, 2 injured in Queens

QUEENS (WABC) -- A seaplane starting its engine was hit by a large wave in Queens on Saturday, causing damage to its wing, the NYPD said.

The plane began taking on water as a result of the damage.

A 67-year-old pilot and a 72-year-old passenger on board were rescued by private boat that took them to shore.

The aircraft was later recovered and removed from the water.

The two people on the plane suffered minor injuries, officials said.
