HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, Westchester County (WABC) -- A high school in Westchester County was evacuated on Thursday morning due to environmental concerns.

Hastings High School was evacuated due to an isolated incident in a science classroom, but all students are said to be safe.

Superintendent of Schools William McKersie said there was a minor spill in a chemistry class.

He said certain protocols had to be followed and they were.

McKersie said three students and one faculty member were checked out but are OK.

"A beaker of nitric acid was dropped and it splattered a bit on the teacher and on three students," McKersie said. "We then immediately went into support intervention mode. Our nurses were right on it. We dialed and called 911, brought in emergency personnel."

Students were dismissed for the day at 1 p.m.

Few other details were released.
