Nicholas Fuelling, 43, turned himself in to police at the 18th Precinct, and was charged with 14 counts of grand larceny.
Fuelling is accused of scamming several prospective renters out of thousands of dollars, after they say they gave him a down payment for a $3,200 two-bedroom apartment at 334 West 47th St. in Hell's Kitchen.
Among Fuelling's accusers was Miguel Márchese, an aspiring model who moved to New York City after finding a listing for the apartment on Facebook.
Márchese told Eyewitness News that everything came crashing down after he began his hunt for a roommate. That's when he learned there were others allegedly scammed by Fuelling.
Eyewitness News also spoke with Maria Cordeiro and another woman, Nathalia, over the phone.
The two shared a similar story, catching onto the scam when they noticed the apartment was still listed on Facebook after they had already paid.
The victims of the alleged scam say they eventually created a group chat called "We've Been Scammed."
