NEW YORK (WABC) -- On this episode of "Here and Now," we'll discuss what a non-law enforcement centered public safety strategy is and you'll hear from New York City's new deputy mayor of community safety.

We'll also talk about how prom dresses and scholarships are helping empower young women of color. We'll introduce you to the founder of the "Princess Chambers."

And long-time TV host Judge Glenda Hatchett will discuss her new children's book, "Goal Girls" and her commitment to inspiring young lives.

We'll also have a new generation of jazz artists joining us. Samara Joy is a six-time Grammy award winning vocalist and Chris Mitchell is a Grammy nominated saxophonist.

It's also Mental Health Awareness Month -- a perfect time to take a closer look at New York City's first-ever Mayor's Office of Community Safety.

The intent is to focus on non-law enforcement public safety strategies. Deputy Mayor for Community Safety Renita Francois joins us to discuss.

Here and Now with Sandra Bookman airs Sundays at 12:00 p.m. on Channel 7, WABC-TV in New York City.
