Just after 9 p.m., PATH resumed service from both World Trade Center and 33rd Street in and out of Hoboken.
NJT rail and bus are cross-honoring at Hoboken, New York Penn Station, Secaucus, Newark, Hoboken Light Rail, Bus 126, and Bus 87.
Around 11:30 a.m., Port Authority police and the Hoboken Fire Department responded to a smoke condition at the PATH Hoboken station and located a small fire in the tunnel.
Officials say the fire was quickly put out, the station was evacuated and no injuries were reported, but the station was closed, impacting service for several hours, including the evening commute.
Crews replaced the damaged rail and tested trains before service resumed.
Service between Newark and World Trade Center, and Journal Square to 33rd Street are operating.
PATH directed impacted customers to the following alternative modes of transportation:
- PATH is operating service between 33 Street and World Trade Center to accommodate transfers at Newport for NJ Transit light rail service.
- NJ Transit Rail is cross-honoring PATH at Hoboken, Secaucus, New York Penn Station, and Newark with bus #126 and #87.
- NJ Transit Hudson-Bergen light rail is cross-honoring at Hoboken, Exchange Place and Newport.
- New York Waterway ferries is also cross-honoring customers at Hoboken and Brookfield Place.
