Hofstra University holds annual Women's Day Conference hosted by Eyewitness News

HEMPSTEAD, New York (WABC) -- Sunday is International Women's Day, and it was a packed house at Hofstra University on Long Island to commemorate the occasion.

Eyewitness News Reporter Chantee Lans hosted the eighth annual International Women's Conference at the school's campus in Hempstead.

This year's keynote speakers included the Queen of Ghana and New York State Senator for Long Island Siela Bynoe.

More than 500 people attended the annual conference.

Dr. Neva Alexander started the International Women's Conference at Hofstra University. This year's theme is "Her Voice, Her Power, Her Culture, Her Legacy."



The goal of the event is to encourage leadership, entrepreneurship and public service among women.
