The McDonald's would sit at East Pulaski Road and Park Avenue, where a vacant bank now sits.
But critics say the golden arches would create traffic, safety and other issues.
The town is so divided that a recent zoning board meeting went off the rails when officials brought up the project.
"I don't know, that would be ridiculous. We don't need a McDonald's here. I think there is a McDonald's somewhere about five miles away. But we don't need it," Anthony Pena said.
"I don't think it's a good idea at all because of the traffic area. That's a very bad intersection of Park Avenue and Pulaski. And it's very dangerous. There are a lot of car accidents there anyway," Marti O said.
Many residents are not lovin' it and have voiced their concerns about the traffic congestion at East Pulaski Road and Park Avenue.
"The town is open for business, but we have to take into consideration all of the factors that go into running a business and the impact that has on the surrounding properties," town supervisor Ed Smyth said.
Allison LaPointe, who is representing McDonald's, addressed the board and described why they feel this location is ideal for the drive-thru restaurant.
McDonald's is known for taking excellent pride and care of their properties and for the safe and efficient operations of their sites," LaPointe said.
LaPointe said there will be improvement, including landscaping and it would reduce the number of cars cutting through the vacant property.
The proposed fast food restaurant would accommodate 32 seats and a drive-thru and is located next to a park. Some say it doesn't match the community aesthetic.
"This project, does not fit the character of this neighborhood," one resident said.
"You cannot make a left-hand turn over a double yellow line, which is right on that avenue," another resident said.
People who live in neighboring Huntington County Farms say they have no problems with the fast-food chain, but they don't think this is the right place for one.
"I have nothing against McDonald's. It's the choice of the position of it that is so bad," Marti O said.
The McDonald's representative said they would be reviewing and addressing the concerns raised in the meeting.
