30-year-old man fatally shot at Canarsie Pier; no arrests made

CANARSIE PIER, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 30-year-old Brooklyn man was shot multiple times and died early Sunday near Canarsie Pier.

Officers responded to a 911 call of a shooting around 3:14 a.m. in the area of Belt Parkway and Rockaway Parkway. When they arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body.

EMS transported the victim to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police later identified the victim as John Garvin, 30, of Brooklyn.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Detectives were seen at the scene Sunday morning as authorities continued to gather evidence.
