Woman fired from job after Knicks trash can theft

Updated 2 hours ago
NEW YORK (WABC) -- A video shared online with over 7 million views shows a woman at the Knicks parade dumping garbage from a branded, limited-edition trash can onto the street, then walking off with it.

The woman, who has been identified, was apparently fired from her job shortly after the video surfaced and went viral.

"This employee is no longer with the company," a Chase spokesperson said.

Additional social posts showed her riding the subway with the stolen bin.

The NYC Department of Sanitation says the woman seen in the video, who her employer is not naming, was issued two fines.

One summons was issued for littering ($75) and one for impeding DSNY operations ($100). These fines are the maximum allowed by law for first offenses.

The woman also returned the trash can, according to NYC Sanitation:

Replicas of the limited-edition trash cans celebrating the Knicks' NBA Championship are available for sale online.
