Man shot in face in apparent police-involved shooting in Westbury

WESTBURY (WABC) -- A man in his 20s was shot in the face and hospitalized in what authorities are investigating as an apparent police-involved shooting in Westbury late Monday night.

According to investigators, shots were fired at a vehicle near Brush Hollow Road and 6th Street just after 11 p.m. The victim was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center. His condition was not immediately known.

Police surrounded an SUV at the scene that had a blown-out front passenger-side window.

Investigators also recovered a knife.

The investigation remains active, and authorities have not released additional details.
