SOUNDVIEW, Bronx (WABC) -- A 39-year-old livery cab driver was found stabbed in his vehicle in the Bronx early Wednesday in a case being investigated as road rage.

The victim, Osei Kusi, was found with multiple stab wounds to back and lower abdomen just after 2:30 a.m.

He had just finished charging his car and was a few blocks from home.

Officials say the stabbing is being investigated as a road rage that started at White Plains Road and Story Avenue.

The unidentified suspect was stopped at a green light when the livery driver aggressively went around him, cutting him off.

The suspect followed him to Randall Avenue and White Plains Road where police say the suspect knocked on the victim's window.

Kusi exited the car and the two got into a verbal dispute. The victim said he did not want to fight but police say the suspect then stabbed him and fled.

Despite being stabbed seven times in the back and abdomen, he was able to call for help.

He was taken to Jacobi Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Kusi has driven for Uber and Lyft since 2019 to support his wife back home in his native Ghana.

New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers says the car's onboard cameras recorded audio and video of the confrontation and captured the license plate of the other vehicle.

While they are confident an arrest will be made, the group stressed the advice given to drivers who are already in a dangerous line of work.

"Never get out of your vehicle, that's your shield, that's what protects you, once you're out of the vehicle, anything could happen," said NYSFTD spokesman Fernando Mateo.

NYSFTD is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

"This was an attempted murder and a danger to every New Yorker. Someone out there knows something and must come forward," Mateo said.
