Bronx man charged with sexually abusing 6 youths over 8 years, police say

THE BRONX (WABC) -- A Bronx man is facing dozens of charges after police say he sexually abused six young people, most of them minors, over an eight-year period.

Police arrested 42-year-old Stephen Charles on Friday for the alleged crimes that occurred between Jan. 2018 and May 2026.

According to investigators, the victims included five boys and one girl ranging in age from 10 to 18. Police said the alleged abuse took place in several Bronx neighborhoods.

Charles is charged with five counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, six counts of rape, three counts of course of sexual conduct against a child, one count of criminal sexual act, six counts each of use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child, seven counts of sexual abuse and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The arrest comes a day after the NYPD released Charles' photo and asked the public for help locating him as part of the investigation.



The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline.
