NEW MILFORD, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police have arrested a suspect in the stabbing death of a man whose body was found inside a home in New Milford overnight.

Officers responded to a home on River Road near River Edge Avenue just before 3 a.m. for a welfare check.

Once inside, police found 24-year-old Mateo Ochoa-Gonzalez with multiple stab wounds to his chest and neck on the second floor.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Justin Wilhelm was arrested on homicide and weapon-related offenses.

Police say Wilhelm called 911, and when they arrived, they found him on the front steps with what appeared to be blood on both of his hands.

He is facing a slew of charges, including first-degree murder.

The house sits on a very busy street, which police blocked off early Thursday morning.

Police have been canvassing the area looking for any evidence.

Neighbors say the house has been the site of several incidents, including this past Sunday, when up to seven police cars were outside the house.

Jeff Angermeyer, Deputy Chief of Detectives, stated in a press release that, "The incident appears to be isolated, and there is no indication of any wider threat or ongoing danger to the community."
