Man found guilty in murders of Nassau County police officer, 2nd man

MINEOLA (WABC) -- A New York City parolee has been convicted in the fatal shootings of a Nassau County police officer and a carjacking victim.

A Long Island jury reached the verdict Monday in the first-degree murder trial of 34-year old Darrell Fuller.

Prosecutors say Fuller shot and killed Emergency Services Officer Arthur Lopez at point-blank range during a traffic stop in 2012. He had been fleeing the scene of an accident when he was stopped by police.

Fuller also killed a Brooklyn construction worker, Raymond Facey, and stole his car.

Authorities said Fuller carjacked the man's vehicle because the tires on his car had been blown out in the earlier car accident.

Fuller faces a sentence of life without parole.
