The brawl broke out at around 2:55 a.m. Thursday morning at the VIP Room NY, which was the site of a fashion week after-party hosted by the rapper.
A spokesperson from the VIP ROOM released a statement, "Chris Brown came to VIP ROOM for a Fashion Week Party that the singer hosted on Wednesday, September 10th. Brown and a group of his friends were seated to the right of the DJ booth. An incident unrelated to Chris Brown occurred between two patrons, approximately 50 feet away from Brown and his group."
"At approximately 2:45 a.m., a male patron, who has yet to be identified, attempted to pour a beer over another person. It's our understanding that a bottle of beer shattered on a column and a shard of glass caused a minor laceration to another patron's eye. The guest with the injury left the venue without notifying club management or security. Security promptly removed the patron who had been holding the beer bottle from the club. No arrests were made."
"Chris Brown was completely oblivious to the incident and had nothing to do with what transpired nor was he or any of his group affected in anyway. VIP ROOM is cooperating with the police and their investigation."
Bottles were thrown during the brawl, and a 29-year-old man was struck with flying glass.
The man is believed to have been standing near Chris Brown when the bottle was thrown. He was hit by shards of flying glass that got into his eye.
The man flagged down a nearby NYPD police cruiser and then took a cab to Beth Israel Medical Center.
He was treated for minor lacerations to his left eye from glass fragments and then transported to New York Eye and Ear Hospital. A 911 call was then made from the hospital to police.
No arrests were immediately made.
The victim and his partner are purported to be promoters who bring girls to events to "pack the club".
He claims to have been standing in the immediate vicinity of Chris Brown when a bottle was thrown from an unknown person.
