RIDGEFIELD PARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- A huge fire burned through three homes in Ridgefield Park, injuring two firefighters and leaving residents homeless.

The four-alarm fire broke out at a house on Brinkerhoff Street around 2:45 a.m., spreading to two nearby homes.

Firefighters went upstairs inside one of the homes to battle the blaze and look for possible trapped residents.

All residents made it out safely.

One resident said he doesn't know how the fire started but believed it started at a neighbor's house and then spread, describing the scary moments he realized his home was on fire:

"When I got out of my bed, I watched it from the window. I saw the porch on the back completely on fire ... Now my house, they're breaking all the windows. You see a lot of smoke coming into my house, especially my daughter's room," he said.

One Englewood firefighter and one Hackensack firefighter were taken to nearby hospitals, both with minor injuries, and a few others were checked out for smoke inhalation.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
